THE ALPHABET AND CAPITALIZATION
[From ABC's print two copies of the model letter sheet, one for you and one for the learner. You will also need pencils, and a tablet.]
You have been writing "small" letters. Now you are going to learn to write "large" or capital letters. We use a capital letter on the first word of a new sentence. We also use a capital letter to start a proper name like your name. When we make the beginning letter in a word or name a capital letter, we capitalize it.
Script for each letter in the lines:
- Say the name of the letter and trace each part of the capital letter on your sheet after watching me trace the part. ["A" is formed in three parts and "C" is formed in one part.]
- Say the name of the letter and trace each part of the capital letter on your own three times.
- Say the name of the letter and write write the capital letter three times.
Script for each line in the challenge:
- Say and copy each letter in the line.
- Say and write each letter in the line and repeat until you can do it rapidly and correctly without peeking.

- Practice saying the names of all of the letters in every line until you can do it rapidly and correctly without peeking.
